Sunday

Morning All!
Hope you are all doing well!
Well I got settled into my room and it is lovely! The sun streaming through the window on Sunday... it was great! My host is lovely. She is an older lady (around 85) who is very sweet, showing me her whole home! The house I live in is the last on a row of three and it has three levels with a garden. It used to be a part of a candle factory so its called Tallow Cottage:) I love it! The first level has the kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and a small bathroom. The second floor has her bathroom and room, and her late husband’s study. Then the third floor is my apartment. I have a large room and a full bathroom. It’s a garret room with a slanted roof and a view that overlooks her garden, and old orchard, and then the continuation of Charlbury on the next hill. It is very lovely and the homes look beautiful, even if they are new by English standards. My room itself is decorated with several pieces of art as Elizabeth (my host) is an artist… in fact the whole house is decorated with her work. She is very talented and her pictures are lovely representations of scenes across Europe and the world. I think she specializes in pastels but she tells me that she likes all different types of mediums. I like Elizabeth, and her cat Sally :).

Today we are going to an ecumenical service with all the churches in Chalbury at the Anglican Church, led by the Quakers. There service had a lot of silence, which i guess is their idea of 'experiencing God'... check wikipedia for an idea of their beleifs. But it was very interesting!

We went for a walk this afternoon... a country walk through the mud but it was soo nice and sunny and I got lots of lovely pictures! It looks a lot like home but it looks beautiful.

New differences I found out about...
- rubbish is the British term for trash
- licence plates are long and yellow
- marmalade is not exactly a favorite :)... quite bitter
- I'm still getting used to ppl driving on the other side of the road and driving on the otherside of a car (it's really wierd when a little girl is sitting in the left hand seat)
- dessert is called pudding
- supper happens at 7 pm so I gtg :)

see ya later! Leave comments!

Thanks for the update- I'm glad to hear that it's going well! Hey, I can you ask Elizabeth if she hosted Cara Duffy? From your description, I think that I've been in your place before... (still trying to convince Richard that I should fly out there to check up on everything sometime... ) :) Enjoy!

I have definitely been in your bedroom before. It's pretty sweet. Kristy Roberts lived with Elizabeth last year. I went over there for lunch once and spilled something red on my shirt -- I forget what. Anyway, I am so excited and jealous that you guys are there! Ahh pudding... have you tried Banoffee yet?
